Alicia Josephine, Princess of Neviers (Alicia Josephine Emanuela Anastasia; born 31 December 2004), also known as Josephine, is a member of the Ardenian royal family and a three-time Olympic figure skating champion. She is the eldest daughter of Crown Prince Nicolas and Crown Princess Marina, and a grandchild of King Emanuel III, making her second in line of succession to the Ardenian throne after her father. Josephine won the women's singles gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics at the age of 13, becoming the youngest Olympic champion in figure skating history. She successfully defended her title in 2022 and again in 2026, also winning the team gold medal in 2026. She holds the women's world record scores in the short program, free skate, and combined total.
Josephine was born during the reign of her paternal grandfather, King Emanuel III, as the eldest child of Crown Prince Nicolas and Crown Princess Marina. Her father has been heir apparent since birth, placing her second in line to the throne from the moment of her birth.
She has a younger twin sister, Princess Victoria, who was born on the 1st of January 2005. Josephine is a member of the South Korean girl group LILLI under Aire Music. Her other younger sister, Eulalia, is a member of the girl group GHOULZ, which debuted in 2024.
Josephine is the first and only skater to successfully land a fully rotated quadruple Axel in international competition, accomplishing this feat at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and performing it multiple times since. She was subsequently named to the 2026 Winter Olympic team.

Early life and education
Josephine was born on 31 December 2004, the elder twin daughter of Crown Prince Nicolas and his wife, Marina. She was delivered naturally at 11:30pm at the Royal Karolina Hospital in Merlitz. The Catholic Archbishop of Merlitz, Eduardo de Volkonsky, christened her in the private chapel of San Leon Palace on 21 January 2005, and she was named after both her grandmother, Alicia Therese, ancestors, Saint Josephine of Asturias, Alicia Therese and Princess Emanuela of Ardenne. She shares her birthday with her ancestor, Chinese princess turned queen, Alice Mei.
She was affectionately called "Josie" by her close family, based on what she called herself at first. Josephine learned several languages including Ardenian Spanish, English, French and Brazilian Portuguese.
She began her early education at the Real Guardería Infantil de Santa Ysabel. From 2007 to 2018, she studied at the Royal Academy of Penserosa, where she excelled in the departments of Classical Music Composition and Figure Skating. In 2018, at the age of thirteen, she relocated to Seoul, South Korea, to pursue a career in classical and contemporary performance under the guidance of her aunt, Princess Helena. Her education continued under a combined academic and artistic curriculum accredited by the Royal Conservatory of Grand Madeleine and Hanlim Multi Arts School.
In 2018, she was the youngest contestant in Produce48, placing 13th and not making the final lineup for Iz*One.
Josephine is Catholic and had her first communion at the San León Cathedral in October 2014.
She has natural blonde curly hair. However, ever since 2018 she has dyed and straightened it due to bullying. Josephine is ethnically Euskanordic (Nordebask), stemming from the Castamari people, who were descendants of Viking settlers that integrated with the Basque population before being displaced from the Basque Country by Spanish forces in the 10th century — the Royal House of La Palma.
She used to have a nanny and governess, Esmee Ferreira. She currently resides at the Princess Apartment, also known as the Miraval Cottage, in San Leon Palace. During the summers she spends time at the Lilou Summer Palace in Longliere, a 15th century house built for Isabela Noriko.
Personal life
Victim of bullying
Her experience during her middle and high school years was marked by extreme bullying which only intensified following her debut in 2022. As a foreigner in South Korea's competitive K-pop industry, Josephine was seen as an outsider. Her classmates took full advantage of that. Many of them harbored jealousy and resentment, unable to accept her growing fame and prominence, and they subjected her to relentless torment.
Her classmates went to disturbing lengths to make her life unbearable. Her locker was often defaced with derogatory messages such as "go back to your country" and "you're a Koreaboo." They would steal her personal belongings, often ripping up her books or dumping ink over her notebooks. In one particularly humiliating instance, her classmates recorded themselves destroying a gift from her family and sent it to her anonymously, mocking her "foreignness" and implying that she didn't belong in Korea.
Rumors about her spread like wildfire, including malicious claims that she had only secured her spot in Produce48 because of her family's status and influence rather than talent. The idea that she had somehow "bought" her way into the K-pop industry led to a wave of resentment. Jealous classmates would accuse her of being a "fake" and suggested that she was using her family's wealth to bribe judges and instructors. This narrative of her being a "rich foreign girl who didn't belong" stuck and became a common refrain among her peers.
The most brutal incident occurred in late 2022, when a group of bullies cornered her after school. They dragged her to a secluded stairwell where they started to push her around. During the altercation, she was shoved down a flight of stairs, resulting in a fractured arm. The attack didn't end there; one of the bullies, in a particularly horrifying act of violence, used a pair of scissors to cut Josephine's hands, leaving deep, permanent wounds. The incident was so severe that she required immediate hospitalization and underwent multiple surgeries to repair the damage to her hands. The physical scars left Josephine deeply self-conscious. From that moment on, she began wearing gloves in public to cover her hands, a habit that continued even as an idol.
Her silence was not by choice. Her bullies had threatened her, warning that they would destroy her career and spread false stories to ruin her reputation if she reported the incidents. Josephine chose to keep quiet in fear. This led to years of suffering in silence. In February 2024, shocking details came to light when a video was leaked online showing a brutal attack. She has been in a relationship with Anton Lee, a South Korean singer and member of the group RIIZE, since 2021. Their relationship became public in late 2023 following confirmation from both the Royal Household and the group's management.
Military education
In keeping with Ardenne's royal tradition, members of the House of La Palma León are expected to undergo military training as part of their preparation for public life and state duties. Josephine is a direct descendant of the Romanovs, Spanish and French Bourbons, and the Chinese imperial family through Alice Mei, daughter of the Qianlong Emperor. Through her grandmother, Grand Duchess Helena Alexeyevna of Russia, she is related to Emperor Nicholas II and his children. Her paternal line traces back to Maria Luisa of Spain, daughter of Queen Isabel II, and to Augusta of France, granddaughter of Louis XIV, the Sun King. Josephine descends from the Russian imperial house of Romanov through her paternal line. Her great-great-grandmother, Grand Duchess Helena Alexeyevna of Russia, was daughter of Grand Duke Alexei Alexandrovich and granddaughter of Emperor Alexander III of Russia. Through this lineage, she is a first cousin three times removed of Emperor Nicholas II's children.
